Subject: Town Conducting Drinking Water Safety Survey
O&M Backflow Services, a contractor working with the Town of Yountville’s Utility Operations Staff will be conducting a door to door survey of properties beginning the week of May 8, 2017 and continuing through the month of June. The Town as a public water utility is required to ensure that the water distribution system is protected from potential contamination. As a part of the survey, property owners/tenants will be asked if there is a well, fire sprinkler system, swimming pool, hot tub, etc. on their property.
The State Water Resource Control Board requires certain uses such as restaurants to have a backflow prevention device to ensure that unsanitary water does not backflow (back siphon) into the water distribution pipes when there is a water line break, or other situation when there is low water pressure in the system. Utility Operations staff will be inspecting commercial properties as a part of the survey as well.
The Town has a Cross Connection Control Program which requires all backflow prevention devices to be tested once a year to ensure the safety of the Town’s drinking water system.
If you have any questions about the survey or Program, please contact Don Moore, Utility Operations Manager at (707) 944-2988 or firstname.lastname@example.org or check out the Town’s website at www.townofyountville.com
