Solar Project at Community Center
As part of the Town Council’s environmental stewardship and commitment to environmental sustainability practices consistent with the Town’s Adopted Climate Action Plan, the Town will begin the process of installing solar arrays at the Community Center and the Wastewater Treatment Plant/Corporation Yard. When complete there will be 22,900 square footage of solar arrays. The combined Wattage of the three projects will produce about 292KW of electricity. This project will help provide a fixed costs of electricity and help avoid the annual costs increase for power over the 20 years of the contract.
The Solar Array Project at the Community Center will begin with minor parking lot work on Thursday, May 18 through Friday, May 26. This work will entail a closure of a few parking spaces and removal of some concrete next to the building.
On Tuesday, May 30 after the holiday weekend, the North half of the Yountville Community Center parking lot will be closed until June 30, 2017 for the construction/installation/assembly of a series of “carport” type solar arrays designed to deliver all the annual power required by the Yountville Community Center. There will be limited parking. The contractor will work to try and open spaces as work phasing allows.
Major construction should be completed by June 30 2017, however electrical and inspection work will continue through the end of August when the arrays should be energized and attached to the PG&E “grid”.
During the same time, work on installation of the solar array systems at the Wastewater Plant out near the golf course fairways and in the Wastewater Pump Station at the south end of Town will be progressing at about the same rate with completion scheduled for August.
