Veterans Memorial Park Dedication on Monday June 5, 2017 at 4:00 p.m.
The Town of Yountville is pleased to invite the public to the official park dedication of the newly renovated Veterans Memorial Park on Monday, June 5, 2017 at 4:00 p.m.
This newly renovated park pays homage to the rich history of veterans and our unique relationship with the California Veterans Home in Yountville. You will notice certain notable elements such as new flagpoles including the display of the MIA flag and a special star in the center of the park that represents those who have served or are serving the country with military service branch medallions. The Town consulted with the California Department of Veterans Affairs and held meetings at the Veterans Home to ensure these elements were accurate and inclusive.
This park also features a grassy amphitheater which residents can enjoy during the music in the parks series. It is the perfect spot to enjoy some shade or sun, and catch up with your neighbors! Brightly colored flowers add different levels of visual impact, offering a refreshing look all year round!
The design of the park was made possible from community input provided to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission and the Town Council at their meeting. Their guidance allowed Town staff to create a vibrant and exciting new park.
Mayor John Dunbar comments that “We are excited to unveil the renovations of this park and are proud of the design elements that pay homage to Veterans and our relationship with the California Veterans Home in Yountville.”
The Town Council will be joined with community members, Town Staff and special guests including U.S. Congressman Mike Thompson and CDVA Secretary Vito Imbasciani.
