Council Meeting Update
The April 2 regular council meeting commenced with an introduction of Sergeant James Baumgartner. He will be succeeding Sergeant Mike Milat, who announced that he will be retiring in May. This was followed by the proclamation of April as both Child Abuse Prevention Month and Sexual Assault Awareness Month. These proclamations underscored the community's commitment to addressing these critical issues.
Prior to the meeting, Mayor Mohler and the Town Council made a significant gesture by installing 109 blue pinwheels at the Community Center Plaza, symbolizing the substantiated child abuse cases in Napa County. The pin wheel display is in collaboration with Cope Family Centers to raise awareness about child abuse prevention.
On the Consent Calendar, Michael Minnillo was appointed to the Affordable and Workforce Housing Oversight Committee (Measure S) to fill an unexpired term of office, effective immediately until October 1, 2024.
Finally, Resolution 24-4257 was adopted, approving the Expenditure Plan for the proposed Napa Valley Transportation Authority – Tax Agency’s Transportation Improvement Act "Measure U". This measure aims to continue a Transaction and Use Tax for enhancing local streets and roads and investing in regional capital projects.
