Community Building

As summer approaches, the Town of Yountville is gearing up for some exciting community events that promise to bring us closer together and build resilience. Kicking things off is the First Wednesday Community Cookout with Fire Station 12 on June 5th—a chance to grill, chill, and connect with neighbors!

Following the cookout, we're diving into COAD's Meet Your Neighbor Workshops I & II at the Yountville Community Center. These workshops are all about forging essential relationships and getting ready for whatever challenges come our way.  You can register for the workshops here!!

  • Meet Your Neighbor I: June 6 at 5:30 p.m. 
  • Meet Your Neighbor II: June 12 at 5:30 p.m.

And mark your calendars for July 31st because it's the first-ever Yountville Night Out event! It's a night of music, food, and fun designed to celebrate our community spirit and strengthen the bonds that make Yountville the special place it is!

Land Use Applications/Projects - 

On May 2, 2024, staff received a Land Use Application from Mad Fritz for a Use Permit to operate beer tastings within a portion of the existing Jessup Cellars commercial building. An initial application review has begun. 

Humboldt Mixed-Use project (corner of Humboldt & Jefferson Street) resubmitted revised plans on April 4, 2024. The plans are in review for completeness determination, the project is tentatively scheduled for the June ZDRB meeting. Story poles will be installed approximately 10 days prior to the hearing date. Story poles help to demonstrate the mass and bulk of the proposed project.

On May 7th, Staff received an application for 3 new signs at the Estate Yountville. The submittal is in review for completeness and compliance with applicable municipal code sections.

As a reminder, the Land Use Application submittal process has been transitioned to a fully online program. Like Building Permits, Land Use Applications will be accepted through the  Online Permitting Portal  platform. 

ZDRB - Items for the May 14 ZDRB meeting include the following:

  • Oak & Vine Subdivision Project at 1980 Yountville Cross Road which was continued from the April 9 ZDRB after the Board heard from staff, the applicants, and neighbors;
  • The Annual Progress Report for the Housing Element;
  • Capital Improvement Program (CIP) – Conformance with the General Plan;
  • Housing Element;
  • Zoning Ordinance Amendment to amend the Public Facilities (PF) zoning district.

Housing Element - This week Staff received a conditional approval letter from Housing & Community Development (HCD).  Staff will continue to work with our consultants on satisfying the Housing Element Update process with HCD.  The Housing Element will be agenized for the upcoming May 14th ZDRB and upon recommendation by the Board the Housing Element will be agenized for the June 4th Town Council meeting for adoption.  Upon adoption of the Housing Element the document to go back to HCD for certification.

The revised Housing Element can be found on the Town's website.

ADU Webinar - On Thursday, May 16 from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m., Planning Staff will be co-hosting a webinar with the Napa Sonoma ADU Center. The webinar is intended to provide another avenue of up-to-date information and insight on successfully apply for and building ADU’s in Yountville. The webinar will become available on Napa Sonoma ADU Center’s YouTube channel as a resource. There will also be an opportunity at the end of the webinar for Q&A from the audience.

Climate-friendly Garden Tour with RCD

Tour 11 private and public gardens in the Napa Valley! Gardens will showcase beautiful and vibrant landscapes that are climate-friendly and water-wise.

  • Mini-workshops will be held at select sites throughout the day.
  • Compost giveaway at Las Flores Community Center!
  • $5 for Adults/Free for Kids

  • 10:30am at Las Flores: Heat Island Effect Demonstration, Bury Your Undies! (Soil Microbial Demonstration) with UC Master Gardeners
  • 11:30am at Las Flores: Bread and Flour Tilling Demo, Good Bugs/Bad Bugs with UC Master Gardeners

  • 1pm at Garden #6: Drip Irrigation Conversion Workshop with Josh Stokes, City of Napa Water

The ticket you purchase is in a brochure format. This brochure has a map of the garden locations, as well as descriptions of the gardens and different features each has to offer.

Tickets purchased after May 8 can be picked up at Las Flores Community Center starting at 10am on Saturday, May 18.

On May 18, you can visit any of the gardens, in any order, at any time! It’s a choose-your-own-adventure kind of day, and all of the gardens will be open to ticket holders from 10am-4pm. You will be able to tour the gardens, talk with the owners of the gardens, and see some great examples of climate-friendly and water-wise gardens!
