Memorial Day Weekend and the Kickoff to Summer

As Memorial Day weekend approaches, it signals not only a time for reflection and remembrance but also the unofficial start of summer.

In Yountville, annual ceremonies will be held to commemorate Memorial Day. The first ceremony will take place at the George C. Yount Pioneer Cemetery on May 26 at 1 PM with a keynote speech from Mayor Margie Mohler highlighting the history and 175th anniversary.

The following day, May 27, a ceremony will be held at the Yountville Veterans Home Cemetery at 10 AM. This annual event is a tribute to the veterans who have called Yountville their home and who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. The ceremony is expected to bring together veterans, their families, and local residents in a shared moment of remembrance and gratitude.

In addition to these ceremonies, the Memorial Day weekend also marks the beginning of the summer season with a variety of events planned throughout the community. The Summer Concert Series and event lineup schedules have been posted, promising a vibrant array of activities for all ages. From outdoor concerts and movie nights to the farmstand and corn hole league, there will be no shortage of entertainment and opportunities to enjoy the warm weather. Check out the events page for Yountville Parks and Recreation!

As we remember the sacrifices made by our service members this Memorial Day weekend, we also look forward to the joy and renewal that summer brings. It is a time to honor the past and embrace the future, celebrating with family, friends, and community.

Announcing the Launch of the RCAAP Community Engagement Website

The Napa County Regional Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (RCAAP) has launched a website. RCAAP is a collaborative effort spearheaded by the County of Napa and the Cities of American Canyon, Calistoga, Napa, St. Helena, and the Town of Yountville. This partnership aims to leverage resources and promote community engagement to drive climate action and adaptation in the Napa region.

The new website will serve as a central hub for information and participation in the RCAAP planning process. It will help develop actions to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and address climate vulnerabilities, guiding the region toward sustainability and resilience. Community members are encouraged to visit the website to explore the Vision Board, provide feedback, and participate in the Napa RCAAP Community Survey. Join us in shaping a sustainable future for Napa!
