Subject:        Yountville Arts presents IMAGINE THAT….Frank Trozzo: Images of the Universal Mind premiering in the Steve Rogers Gallery, Thursday, August 8, 5:30pm-7pm

Yountville Arts welcomes the public to the premiere of IMAGINE THAT…Frank Trozzo: Images of the Universal Mind with an Artist Reception on Thursday, August 8, 5:30pm-7pm in the Steve Rogers Gallery, 6516 Washington Street, Yountville. Meet Frank Trozzo in person, enjoy his art, and savor lite bites and refreshments.

A resident of Napa Valley, Trozzo is an award-winning professional artist and designer. His talents include painting and drawing learned from an early age, studies in art, sculpture, and jewelry-making. Interested in all aspects of nature, his true passion is the human mind. He is inspired by the writings of Carl Jung as well as many artists throughout history who studied the inner landscape or as he calls it “images of the universal mind.”

He paints with the idea that the impossible becomes possible, which he terms ‘imaginary realism’. “I am a symbolist,” says Trozzo. “It’s my mission to paint images from the subconscious: architypes, myths, metaphors and metaphysics. These are things that unite and transform us.” At first glance, paintings featured in IMAGINE THAT may appear whimsical with bears drinking wine, grand pianos with rhythmic floating hearts and a dragon taking a bubble bath in a castle but each encourages the viewer to look deeper into the painting and think beyond its visual appeal.

Born to supportive parents in Washington DC, art has been the focus of Trozzo’s life. He learned to paint with oil and acrylics, explored bronze casting, and trained in Europe as a goldsmith. Frank’s talent and ambition eventually led him to the prestigious California College of Arts & Crafts in Oakland, CA. There he was mentored by a noted German-trained goldsmith who advised him to move to Germany to continue his training.

Encouraged by the success of his jewelry-making in Germany, he moved back to the Bay Area where he opened a shop in San Francisco featuring his jewelry & sculptures as well as the works of others in the San Francisco artist community. As the early 1980s ushered in the era of computers, he became interested in and studied what he needed to know about the multimedia and web design business. Once again, this talented individual opened a successful business which flourished.

Trozzo remains a resident of Napa Valley with his wife of over 40 years. He savors each day doing what he loves, painting. He is also a leader of Artists of the Napa Valley where he oversees the organization’s annual Open Studios Tour.
