Subject:        NEW Parks and Recreation PROGRAMMED PICKLEBALL PLAY HOURS at Yountville’s Vineyard Park Starting August 19, 2024

The newly formed Yountville Pickleball Liaison Group met in July to discuss various topics including the scheduled play time at Vineyard Park. The group of volunteers spent considerable time brainstorming and are excited to announce new Programmed Pickleball Play Hours at Vineyard Park that will kick off on August 19, 2024.

It is important to note that these times are programmed by level and offered by the Parks and Recreation Department to encourage the ability of players to know when they can attend and play with those of a similar skill level. In the recently completed survey with over 115 responses, it was clear that the scheduled time was important to Pickleball players in Yountville and overwhelmingly, they wanted to see it maintained. Our focus was on analyzing the structure and working to make it more equitable during the ‘prime’ morning hours during the warmer months. The hours will be assessed seasonally, and changes will be considered by the liaison group.

The new schedule will kick off on Monday, August 19. Outside of the times listed, the courts are open to everyone of all levels to play until dusk each day. This includes Saturdays and Sundays.

Also coming soon is a new PADDLE RACK. The rack will replace the white board for assisting in rotations and grouping for play when the courts are full. It will be installed at the entrance and viewing area on the south side of the courts.

Finally, we are excited to be structuring a calendar for volunteer coaches to sign up to be on site during Beginner Play Time. This will be a HUGE benefit for new players to be able to come and know that someone will be there to help them learn and grow as a player. If you are interested in being a Beginner Volunteer Coach, please reach out to Parks and Recreation at sholland@yville.com or call 707-948-2627.
