Subject: Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission to Review Plans to Improve South Lot of Veterans Memorial Park on Washington Street, Off-Leash Hours for Dogs – Pilot Program, Shade Structures in Yountville Community Park, and Receive Update on Vineyard Park Phase II Improvements on the March 21, 2024 6 PM Meeting Agenda
The public is invited and encouraged to review the agenda packet posted at www.townofyountville.com for the March 21, 2024 Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission Meeting and attend the meeting starting at 6 p.m. at Town Hall to listen and weigh in on the upcoming projects.
Town staff continue to work on improvement projects already allocated in the 2023-24 Capital Improvement Plan and the newly adopted Parks and Recreation Master Plan. On the agenda for March 21st are the South Washington Street Parking Improvement Project (South Lot of Veterans Memorial Park), Off-Leash Dog Hours in Parks – Pilot Project and Shade Improvement for Yountville Community Park Picnic Sites. The Commission will receive staff reports and give feedback on the proposed projects as well as take comments from the public.
South Washington Street Parking Improvement Project Proposal:
- Improves the dirt lot parking area south of Veterans Memorial Park
- Includes an enclosed dog run area with fencing and amenities.
- Includes curb, gutter, sidewalk, and street parking.
- Public is invited to view the site with marking flags and fencing examples starting Friday, March 15 to give input at the meeting or in advance by using the Public Comment features.

- Project to come before the Council for another review and public comment period.
Off-Leash Dog Hours in Parks – Pilot Program
- Allows off-leash hours in Yountville Community Park, Vineyard Park and the to-be-acquired Yountville Elementary School field per the program outline.

Shade Structures in Yountville Community Park Picnic Areas
- Shade Sail Proposal for picnic sites 1, 3 and 4.
- Discussion of colors for poles and shade cloth.

Update on Vineyard Park Phase II Improvements
- Scaled-back project due to funding not received from grant will be presented for feedback.

Any written testimony submitted by 4:00 p.m. the Wednesday before the meeting will be shared with Commissioners electronically and will be added to the record. Any public comment received after the 4:00 p.m. deadline will be added to the record after the meeting has concluded.
