The Town of Yountville proudly announces the successful acquisition of the Yountville Elementary School site, marking a significant milestone for the community.

Following a thorough due diligence process, the Town is pleased to report that no concerning issues were identified, reaffirming the decision to proceed with the acquisition.

Mayor Margie Mohler commented, "This acquisition represents a pivotal moment for Yountville. We are excited to harness the potential of this space to better serve our community and look forward to embarking on a project that reflects the needs and aspirations of our residents and future for generations to come."

The development plan, structured into three distinct phases—initial, interim, and idea/vision—aims to reinvigorate the site and enhance its usefulness for the community. Going forward, the project will be known as 'Yountville Commons'.

During the initial phase, priority will be given to cleaning up the site and enhancing its overall appearance and maintenance. Building upon the groundwork laid by the school district, the Town will implement additional cleanup initiatives and aesthetic improvements over the coming months.

In the interim phase, the focus will shift towards leveraging existing infrastructure, particularly the two modern buildings on site. One of these buildings is a multi-purpose room, which will be named Commons Hall. It is comparable in size to the Yountville Community Hall and will enable the Town to enhance recreational programming by providing increased flexibility. Additionally, plans are underway to repurpose the old library, which contains six classrooms, into a dynamic wellness center. This center will offer a range of fitness and healthy living activities.

Looking ahead to the idea phase, the Town is committed to fostering community engagement and soliciting public input on long-term development possibilities for the site.

A comprehensive public participation and outreach effort will be initiated, allowing residents to contribute their perspectives on housing and other potential uses. This collaborative process, expected to span 6-12 months, will be led by a design team, with more details to be announced as the strategy takes shape.

The Town has launched a dedicated webpage for the project, providing easy access to information and updates as they become available.
