If you wrote a story that could fit on a bookmark, what would you write about? What would you want to share? The Bookmark Story Coalition is looking for the five best stories (3 in the Adult Category and 2 in the Youth Category) that will be printed on bookmarks and distributed to the public through Napa County libraries. Each winner will also receive a $100 prize.
Writers must be a current or former Napa County resident or work in the County. You may submit two unpublished stories, either in prose or poetry format, with a limit of 60 words per story. Each submission should have a title and may not include any profanity or disparaging remarks. The pieces will undergo blind review and the best three adult submissions, and two Youth submissions will be chosen.
A ‘How to write a Bookmark Story’ class will be held on April 30th from 4:00-5:30 in the Lifeworks Room at the Napa Library.
The Bookmark Story Contest is a collaboration between the Yountville Library, Friends of the Yountville Library, and the Yountville Arts Commission. Submissions will be accepted starting May 15th and are due by June 28th, 2024. There is no cost to enter. Visit www.yountvillearts.com Literary Page or at https://yvillebookmark2024.artcall.org to enter. Winners will be announced at the Bookmark Story Public Celebration on September 26th in the Heritage Room of the Yountville Community Center.
